THE BDC STORY
Established in Stavanger 2019, The Belle Design Company creates custom cabinetry and furniture for the home, office and beyond.
With over 18 years industry experience, owner/craftsman Richard draws from a knowledge of cabinetmaking, engineering, joinery, metalwork and construction to provide consistently innovative and exciting solutions to meet his clients’ needs, from the individual to large multinational corporations.
Community-focused, BDC is responsible for transforming many kitchens, bars, cars and cafes in the region with stunning results, sourcing materials from local suppliers whenever possible.
Always approachable and collaborative, the BDC team often partner with other craftspeople for larger jobs and are proud to foster a modern, inclusive workshop environment.
Passionate about supporting young makers and creatives, we are active in community programs which help to build sustainable and innovative new businesses.
OWNER/OPERATOR
Originally from Australia, Richard has lived and worked in Norway since 2006. Ever curious, he’s always been fascinated with how things work, and how they could work better, leading him to constantly innovate and rethink common designs and practices.
Regardless of scale or complexity, he approaches each new project as a unique work of art.
A songwriter and musician, Richard is an active part of the local music and art community. Passionate about the restoration of classic cars and antiques, you’ll often find him digging in the back of your local thrift store.
